Rye Root Beer

Great way to kick off our first cocktail of the year. Meet the Rye Root Beer created by Dylan Freehauf of Rye Tavern, Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Glass: Old Fashioned

 

Ingredients:

1 1/2oz   Glendalough Double Barrel Irish Whiskey
 
1 1/2oz   Rumson's Spiced Rum
 
1/2oz      Mayflower Porter (English Style Porter) Brown Sugar Syrup*

 

Method:

Shake all ingredients and pour into an Old Fashioned glass. Top with Mayflower Porter* and mix if desired.
 
*To make syrup: Combine equal parts porter and brown sugar and bring to just below a boil. Simmer until slightly thickened and chill.
 
**Feel free to use another English style porter if necessary.
